In Spring 2024, I joined the Equity Workgroup at Folsom Lake Community College. Throughout the semester, I engaged in intensive four-hour sessions where I accessed the data dashboard, analyzed the data, identified trends and outliers, and developed research questions. Leveraging my expertise as an equity data analyst, I proposed and implemented solutions to close opportunity gaps. My contributions included evaluating equity within classrooms, facilitating discussions, and crafting targeted interventions. This experience highlights my proficiency in data-driven equity work and my commitment to advancing educational equity, solidifying my reputation as an expert in DEI initiatives.

Course Development

In my current position as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of World Music at Folsom Lake College, I have successfully taken on and revamped the online asynchronous World Music course since 2020. Initially, the course utilized a pricey textbook, and data revealed significant equity gaps among low-income and below-poverty students, one contributing factor being the high cost of educational materials. In response, I developed the course to solely use Open Educational Resources (OER), ensuring that all students had equal access to high-quality materials without financial barriers. Utilizing my research skills, I identified credible resources and created new educational content using eLearning authoring tools. The course content is delivered on Canvas and is constantly updated, with new assignments designed to be accessible to all learners, accommodating diverse learning styles and preferences to ensure inclusivity and effectiveness. This initiative showcases my commitment to equity in higher education, as I leveraged my creativity, digital competencies, and background as an educator to make the course more accessible and inclusive for all student
